Yin encourages you to slow down by holding poses longer and breathing. With the muscles relaxed, yin postures target the deep connective tissue -our fascia, ligaments, bones and joints- as opposed to other yang-styled yoga classes which focus on stressing and strengthening muscle through repetitive movements.
